Gerhard Todenhöfer

Gerhard Kreuzwendedich Todenhöfer (born June 10, 1913 in Wippershain ; † March 6, 1973 in Tübingen ) was a German political functionary, civil servant and manager. During the National Socialist era , Todenhöfer was a leading student functionary and after the Second World War an economic manager in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Life

Todenhöfer was the son of a pastor (evangelical reformed). He joined the Hitler Youth (HJ) as early as 1927 , where he was promoted to Gauführer. In 1929 Todenhöfer became a member of the SA , in which he achieved the highest rank of Sturmbannführer .

On March 1, 1930, Todenhöfer became a member of the NSDAP (Mgl.-Nr. 223.095). After graduating from high school in 1933, Todenhöfer began studying law in Marburg. In addition to his studies, he was involved in the National Socialist German Student Union (NSDStB). After he had held various management positions in the NSDStB and in the German student body (including Gaustudentenbundführer of the NSDStB and leader of the Marburg student body) Todenhöfer was appointed "Area Commissioner Rhine" of the Reich Student Leader Gustav Adolf Scheel in November 1936 . At that time he was considered particularly radical even within Nazi circles.

After completing his studies, doctorate and service in the NSDAP foreign organization , Todenhöfer came to the Foreign Office as Martin Bormann 's shop steward . There he was first deputy head of department Germany III (Jewish affairs), then deputy head of the special department. He was in close contact with the Propaganda Ministry and the party chancellery . Todenhöfer promoted the career of his long-term closest friend, the future Federal Chancellor (1966–1969) Kurt Georg Kiesinger , in the broadcasting policy department of the Foreign Office .

After 1945 Todenhöfer took on a leading position at C. Baresel Bau-AG in Stuttgart, of which he was general director for many years. The chairman of the supervisory board of C. Baresel Bau-AG was Klaus Scheufelen , long-time president of the economic council of the CDU eV

Gerhard K. Todenhöfer was the uncle of the CDU member Jürgen Todenhöfer .
