Gerhard Voss (monk)

Gerhard M. Voss OSB (born July 25, 1935 in Recklinghausen ; † November 3, 2013 in Deggendorf ) was a German Benedictine monk, Catholic theologian and astrologer .

Live and act

Born in Recklinghausen in 1935, Voss made his monastic profession in Niederaltaich on October 13, 1959 , and was ordained a priest there on March 18, 1961 . The doctor of the New Testament was one of the few Catholic theologians in Germany who dealt intensively with astrology and horoscopes . In his book Astrology Christian , Voss interpreted the stars at the time of the birth and death of Jesus .

The Benedictine saw it as a basic stance for a truly ecumenical Christian spirituality that Christians not only demand the unity of the churches, but should also testify to it through their own religious existence in prayer, worship and sacrament.

From 1968 to 2002 he was editor of the theological quarterly publication Una Sancta .

From 1987 to 2009 he was rector of the Ecumenical Institute of the Benedictine Abbey in Niederaltaich .

He died on the morning of November 3, 2013 at the age of 78 in Deggendorf Clinic.
