Gerhard Wörner (economist)

Gerhard Wörner (born June 11, 1878 in Meißen ; † August 5, 1943 in Leipzig ) was a German insurance lawyer in Leipzig.

Life

Wörner attended the König-Albert-Gymnasium and studied law at the University of Leipzig . In 1897 he became a member of the Normannia Leipzig fraternity . He received his doctorate in 1902. He soon received a teaching position at the University of Leipzig and at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences on insurance law issues. In 1911 he was appointed professor at HHL. In 1923 he became full professor for social law and insurance. Wörner is a pioneer in insurance management . Wörner was rector of HHL from 1933 to 1937 and was able to increase the number of chairs. In 1940 he finished his apprenticeship for health reasons. In November 1933 he signed the professors' commitment to Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state at German universities and colleges .
