Gerhard Karl Wenz (* 1953 in Mainz ) is a German chemist and politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 2000 to 2019 he was Professor of Organic Macromolecular Chemistry at Saarland University .

Life

Gerhard Wenz studied chemistry from 1972 to 1979 at the universities of Mainz and Freiburg and received his doctorate in polymer chemistry in 1984 . He then conducted research on polymer chemistry at the University of California and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research . In 1993 he completed his habilitation at the University of Mainz.

In 1993 he took up a C3 professorship for macromolecular chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe . In 2000 he accepted the call for a C4 professorship in organic macromolecular chemistry at Saarland University. Wenz retired in 2019 and has been a senior professor since then.

politics

Gerhard Wenz has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2001 and stood in 36th place for his party in the 2019 European elections .
