Gerhard Winkler (painter)
Gerhard Winkler (born May 4, 1939 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter .
Life
After studying history and education at the University of Vienna , he studied there from 1957 to 1963 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and received a prize from the Vienna Academy in 1963.
From 1962 until his retirement in 1999, he worked as a teacher in Vienna and Vorarlberg . In 1989 he was appointed senior student councilor, and in 2001 he received the great merit of the state of Vorarlberg . Solo exhibitions took place in 1999 in the Kunstraum Dornbirn , in 2004 in the gallery of the Dornbirner Sparkasse and in 2019 in the Stadtmuseum Dornbirn . In 1971, Winkler dealt artistically with the subject of art in public space in the fountain sculpture in the Rohrbach cemetery in Dornbirn or in the wall design in the entrance area of the Baumgarten secondary school. He has lived in Dornbirn since 1963.
Gerhard Winkler works with techniques such as woodcut , reverse glass painting , paper collage, oil painting or drawing. Religious topics always play a role. He also likes to visualize the subject of landscape. He is also an honorary member of KMV Siegberg Dornbirn. He is also the bearer of the New Year's Eve , which is personally awarded by the Pope .
