Gerhard de Haan (* 1951 in Kamperfehn , Friesoythe , Lower Saxony ) is a German educationalist .

Life

Gerhard de Haan studied educational science , sociology and psychology at the Free University of Berlin from 1972 to 1978 after graduating from the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium in Friesoythe . Between 1978 and 1983 he was a research assistant for general educational science at the Free University of Berlin. In 1983 he started with a thesis on nature and education. PhD. From 1983 to 1988 he was a university assistant for general educational science at the Free University of Berlin and completed his habilitation in 1989 with the work Die Zeit in der Pädagogik.

From 1989 to 1991 he was visiting professor for educational science and ecology at the University of Neubrandenburg and since 1991 he has been professor for general educational science and environmental education at the Free University of Berlin.

Since 2000 he has been head of the Institute for Educational Future Research (Institut Futur) at the Free University of Berlin.

Act

Gerhard de Haan was the scientific director of the (BLK) -Programm 21 - Education for Sustainable Development, the BLK-Program Living and Learning Democracy and the BLK-Program Transfer-21.

From 2005 to 2014 he was Chairman of the National Committee for the United Nations Decade on Education for Sustainable Development.

From January 2014 to June 2015 he was a co-opted member of the Council for Sustainable Development . He is also a member of the College of the European Academy for Research into Consequences of Scientific and Technical Developments. He holds numerous advisory and consulting mandates.

In November 2014, Gerhard de Haan was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services in more than 20 years of educational research.
