German Blade Challenge

The German Blade Challenge was between 2002 and 2009, the highest-ranking German competition series for inline speed skaters .

The inline skating competition series was held for the first time in 2002, at that time under the name Jever Blade Challenge and is organized by Karsten Schölermann . Not only the teams from Germany and Northern Europe should be addressed, but also individual starters who are expressly welcome in the series. Most of them are pure skate events over the "classic" marathon distance . In addition, the "mountain or sprint ratings" known from cycling are included in the competitions. In separate team time trials ( prologue ) and elimination races, additional points can be earned for the overall ranking.

In a second rating class for club teams, which so far only existed for men, only athletes who belong to the same club are allowed. For this class, in addition to the competitions of the teams, special dates are set in which points for the club team evaluation can be achieved.

The core features of the series are the season start number that is the same / valid for the entire season (season registration: "Pay once - always drive"), the elite time measurement developed especially for inline speed skating (active chip suitable for speed), the high quality of routes and route safety as well as DRIV licensing and referee support for all races.

In 2010 the DRIV announced that for economic reasons no German Blade Challenges will take place for the time being.

Scoring system

There are at least six races in different German cities every year. The races are divided into three categories. The first receives 1000 points in the premium class, 500 points in the A-class and 250 points in the B-class for victory. The two best results from a premium class race and the four best results from an A or B class race are included in the overall season standings. Since 2007, a team has consisted of a maximum of five women or men. The results of the first three athletes flow into the team ranking and add up to the daily ranking for each team.
