German Township is located in the southwest of Auglaize County in northwest Ohio and borders the townships clockwise: Saint Marys Township , Van Buren Township in Shelby County , McLean Township (Shelby County), Jackson Township , Marion Township in Mercer County and Franklin Township ( Mercer County).
history
The German Township is one of five townships of the same name in Ohio. Formerly it was formed as part of Mercer County and included the area of the Jackson Township until it was split off in 1858.
administration
The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two people are elected in the year after the presidential election and one in the year before. The term of office usually lasts four years and begins on January 1st. There is also a township clerk (secretary), who is also elected for a four-year term in the year before the presidential election. His term of office begins on April 1st.
