Duchouquet Township is one of 14 townships of Auglaize County in the US state of Ohio . According to the census in 2000, 14,329 inhabitants were registered here.

Duchouquet Township is located in the north-center of Auglaize County in northwest Ohio and is bordered clockwise by the townships: Shawnee Township in Allen County , Perry Township (Allen County), Union Township , Clay Township , Pusheta Township , Washington Township, and Logan Township .

history

Duchouquet Township was formed on March 4, 1833. It was named after Francis Duchoquet, a French trapper who lived here with the Shawnee who lived here. The Shawnee came to this area after 1780 after the Miami were evicted.

administration

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two people are elected in the year after the presidential election and one in the year before. The term of office usually lasts four years and begins on January 1st. There is also a township clerk (secretary), who is also elected for a four-year term in the year before the presidential election. His term of office begins on April 1st.
