Gernot Gruber (born January 15, 1963 in Murrhardt ) is a German mathematician and politician of the SPD . He has been a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament since 2011 .

education and profession

Gernot Gruber studied mathematics and political science at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen and at the University of Sussex in England from 1983 after graduating from high school Murrhardt in 1982 and doing community service at the Backnang district hospital . In 1989 he passed the first state examination in both subjects. In 1991 he received his diploma in mathematics with distinction.

Since May 1991 he worked as a mathematician at Allianz , from 2003 to 2011 as head of the accounting department at Allianz Deutschland AG. He has had power of attorney since 2008 . Since 2016 he has been on leave due to his re-election to the state parliament. From 1993 to 2000 he was a part-time lecturer for mathematical statistics at the Stuttgart University of Technology .

Political activity

Gernot Gruber joined the SPD in 1982. He was Juso spokesman in his home town of Murrhardt. Since 2000 he has been chairman of the SPD local association Backnang . He has been a member of the district council of the Rems-Murr district since 2004. He was elected to the state parliament through the second mandate in the state elections in 2011 in the state electoral district of Backnang . In 2016 Gruber was re-elected to the state parliament with 15.7% (3 percentage points more than the SPD in the state) - Gruber is energy, climate and sport policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and a member of the finance and environment, climate and Energy policy.

Family and private

Gernot Gruber is the son of the former member of the state parliament Giselher Gruber and the former SPD parliamentary group leader in the Murrhardt municipal council, Gudrun Gruber. He lives in Backnang, is Protestant, married and has a daughter. He is an active long-distance runner.
