Giselher Gruber

Giselher Gruber (born February 11, 1939 in Berlin ; † October 22, 2019 in Murrhardt ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Gruber was born to Thea and Walter Gruber (later Secretary General of the German Red Cross in Baden-Württemberg). He grew up in Belgrade , Welzheim - Eberhardsweiler and Stuttgart . Gruber began his career as a one-class school teacher in Murrhardt - Steinberg and was rector of the Schickhardtrealschule in Backnang until his retirement .

From 1972 to 1976 he was a member of the state parliament for the constituency of Backnang , ten years as a district councilor and from 1978 to 1993 chairman of the Rems-Murr sports district . Since then he has been honorary president of the sports group.

In 1995 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. In the same year he resigned from school and his honorary posts due to illness.

Gruber was married and had four children. His wife Gudrun Gruber was chairman of the SPD local council group in Murrhardt until the end of 2013, his daughter Gislind Gruber-Seibold was chairman of the local council group in Alfdorf for many years and was elected district councilor in 2009, his son Gernot Gruber was also elected to the state parliament on March 27, 2011 .

Giselher Gruber died on October 22, 2019 in Murrhardt after a long illness (MS).
