Gernot Lehr
Gernot Burkhard Lehr (* 1957 in Bonn ) is a German lawyer specializing in media law .
Life
The son of the former Federal Family Minister Ursula Lehr studied law and economics in Bonn and Munich . He passed his first state examination in 1982 and his second state examination in 1986 . From 1981 to 1985 he worked at the chair for canon law and public law at the University of Bonn with Klaus Schlaich. In 1986 he worked in the legal department of a broadcasting company.
Since 1987 he has been an attorney at the Bonn law firm Redeker Sellner Dahs . Practice areas are press and speech law, broadcasting law, new media law, copyright law, gaming law and media constitutional law.
Gernot Lehr is a lecturer in the copyright and media law course at the German Lawyers Academy and a lecturer in media law at the University of Bonn. Every summer semester he gives a lecture on media law at the Law Faculty of the University of Bonn.
He is a board member of the study group for press law and freedom of the press in Stuttgart, board member of the Institute for European Media Law in Saarbrücken and advisor to the journalistic commission of the German Bishops' Conference .
Lehr published work on broadcasting, press and gambling law. As a lawyer, he represented the then Federal President Johannes Rau in the Düsseldorf flight affair in 1999 and 2000 . Rau's successor, Christian Wulff , also used Lehr's services in the credit affair . Other well-known clients are Pope Benedict XVI. who had an injunction against a cover of the satirical magazine Titanic obtained from the Hamburg Regional Court in mid-2012 ; and in the same year Bettina Wulff , who takes legal action against the Google group.
