Gerson Wolf ( July 16, 1823 in Holleschau , Moravia - October 29, 1892 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Jewish religious teacher and historian.

Life

Gerson Wolf initially wanted to become a rabbi and studied in Vienna. From the mid-1850s he worked as a religion teacher for the Jewish community in Vienna . As part of this activity he took over the supervision of the Jewish religious schools in Vienna.

Gerson Wolf published numerous writings that dealt primarily with the history of the Jews in Bohemia , Moravia and Austria . He died in Vienna at the age of 69 and was buried in the old Israelite part of the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 20, Row 21, No. 11).
