Life

After studying Romance languages, English, literature and political science, Gert Haedecke completed an internship at the Südwestfunk -Landesstudio Freiburg. In 1959 he became an editor at the school and youth radio in Baden-Baden. From an early age he was passionate about literature. In 1967 he switched to the “Cultural Word” department at the SFW. In 1972 he was commissioned to set up the third radio program. From 1988 until his retirement in 1999, Haedecke, whom SWR director Peter Boudgoust called a “gifted program strategist” in the obituary, was editor-in-chief for culture and entertainment and deputy radio director of the SWF. He also played a key role in merging SDR and SWF to form today's SWR . The SWF also sent him to various institutions of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and commissions of the ARD.
