Gertrud Rudloff-Hille

Gertrud Rudloff-Hille (born January 5, 1900 in Blasewitz near Dresden , † October 13, 1983 in Leipzig ) was a German art and theater historian. She subsequently worked as director of the Zwickau Municipal Museum and director of the Dresden State Art Collections .

Life

Rudloff studied art history and German philology at the University of Leipzig from 1919 to 1924 , where she a. a. also attended lectures by the theater scholar and Germanist Albert Köster . Rudloff-Hille completed her studies with a dissertation. From 1925 to 1930 she worked at the German Theater Museum in Munich as a research assistant to director Franz Rapp . During this time she was also involved in the planning and organization of the 1927 German Theater Exhibition in Magdeburg . From 1946 Rudloff-Hille headed the Zwickau Municipal Museum before moving to the Dresden State Art Collections as director in 1951. She headed the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden until 1960, which was characterized by the reconstruction of the Zwinger and the return of the collection.

Rudloff-Hille also devoted himself to theater history during this period, so under her aegis the “Baroque Theater Department” was set up as an exhibition in the Dresden Zwinger in 1953/54. Rudloff-Hille also devoted himself to the theater history department of the Lessing Museum Kamenz, which her husband Otto Rudloff was in charge of at the time.
