Life

Gertrud Zasche was born in 1920 as the daughter of Leopoldine and Franz Henlein in Gablonz an der Neisse. She is a cousin of Konrad Henlein . She completed school in 1938 with the Matura (Abitur). The study of German literature, history and physical education in Prague it in 1941 as the youngest student to the promotion of Dr. phil. (Grade 1) completed. In 1943 he married Richard Zasche, a doctor of medicine. After the Germans were expelled from Czechoslovakia , the family temporarily found a place to stay in Schwaig near Nuremberg and moved to Kaufbeuren-Neugablonz in 1952. After 1945, many Sudeten Germans from the Gablonzer area met there again. Gertrud and Richard Zasche († 1990) have four children and 12 grandchildren.

Create

Gertrud Zasche was from 1960 to 1978 city councilor of the “Free Voting Community” in Kaufbeuren, then she was replaced by her husband for an electoral term until 1984. In 1970 she received the Polzen-Neisse-Netherlands Landscape Prize, among other things for her writing about Franz Metzner's Rüdiger-Brunnen , the sale of which raised a large part of the money required to acquire the Rüdiger. With wit and charm, she moderated several classical concerts by the "Friends of House Music". In 1965, she was the first woman to give a lecture on the opening of the Kaufbeurer Tänzelfester and was in line with such prominent predecessors as the historian Professor Norbert Lieb, the Swabian local poet Arthur Maximilian Miller , the pedagogue Dr. Otto Schmaderer and the pastor of Kaufbeur, Hans Kohler. She wrote dialect poetry (poems, prose, plays, glosses) as well as essays on local history and was a member of the Allgäu group of authors, the Kaufbeuren women's history group and the Sophie LaRoche group of friends. One of the early lectures by Gertrud Zasche was the actual starting point for the interest that Sophie von La Roche , nee. Gutermann, as the great daughter of the city of Kaufbeuren, is meanwhile brought to bear. From 1980 to 2009, in her capacity as 2nd chairwoman of the Leutelt Society , she was in charge of editing a number of vernacular and local history writings. Since the death of her husband in 1990, she has continued his life's work in the archive of the Gablonzer Haus, where she brought an East German specialist library to the current holdings of approx. 9,000 volumes with a card index usable for academic work and managed it until shortly before her death. Until mid-2012 she also headed the Gablonzer dialect circle, which she had taken over from the popular dialect poet Heinz Kleinert after his death. In addition, she worked in the five-person team of authors of the “Kaufbeurer Frauenlexikon” and in the working group on the dictionary of the Gablonzer dialect group for the publication of “Paurisch - Dictionary of Gablonzer Dialect”, which came out in late 2013.
