The Berger Feld comprehensive school is a comprehensive school in the city of Gelsenkirchen . It is located in the Erle district and is attended by 1,325 students who are taught by 118 teachers.
history
To introduce the comprehensive school in North Rhine-Westphalia, one of these schools was founded in Gelsenkirchen in 1969. At that time it was called the Gelsenkirchen comprehensive school because it was set up for the entire city area. As the only school in North Rhine-Westphalia at the time, it began with grades 5 and 11, so that the first students were able to take the Abitur as early as 1972. Initially, the school was temporarily housed in different buildings until the move to the newly built school building in Berger Feld on Adenauerallee in 1974. Since then, the school has been called the comprehensive school Berger Feld .
particularities
The school regularly participates in the European Union's Comenius program . In the first partnership, the Berger Feld comprehensive school, together with the partner schools All Saints College , Newcastle upon Tyne , and Bröndby Gymnasium , Denmark , are developing school sports festivals for neighboring primary schools in close contact . This was followed by a project with Turkey.
As part of the "100,000 watt solar initiative for schools in NRW", the school was equipped with a photovoltaic system and refurbished in terms of energy.
The school is located in the immediate vicinity of the club area of the Bundesliga soccer club FC Schalke 04 , with which there is an intensive cooperation. The Gelsenkirchen Talent Center has existed since 1995 and the Auf Schalke football school / partial boarding school in Berger Feld since 2000.
