Michael Delura (born July 1, 1985 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former German football player of Polish origin. He could be used both in attacking midfield and in the attack .
Career
In the club
Delura began his career at DJK Falke Gelsenkirchen (1991-1993), VfB Gelsenkirchen (1993-1994) and SG Wattenscheid 09 (1994-1999). In 1999 he came to FC Schalke 04 ; here he was German runner-up in 2005 and reached the cup final. After the 2004/05 season he was loaned to Hannover 96 . For the 2006/07 season he was loaned to Borussia Mönchengladbach . Since July 2007 Delura played for the Greek club Panionios Athens , which was coached by Ewald Lienen until November 2008 .
For the 2009/10 season Delura moved to Arminia Bielefeld , where he received a contract until June 30, 2011. In September 2010, Delura had to undergo knee surgery; he couldn't play soccer for months after that. After the relegation of Arminia from the second Bundesliga after the 2010/11 season , he received no new contract and was then without a club. In January 2012, VfL Bochum signed him. However, he already suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the second division game at SpVgg Greuther Fürth in February 2012 and was out until the end of the season. His contract with VfL Bochum expired in summer 2013. He then decided to end his active career due to protracted injuries.
Michael Delura has lived in Mönchengladbach since 2012 and runs a fitness studio there with his wife, Stephanie Delura .
National team
Delura was used for the DFB in various youth national teams. He took part in the 2004 U-19 European Football Championship and the 2005 World Junior Football Championship .
Coaching career
In January 2020, Delura became part of the coaching team around head coach Benedeto Muzzicato at the northeast regional division Viktoria Berlin . Delura also gathers insights into day-to-day business, in addition to studying sports management.
