The comprehensive school in Wuppertal-long field (often only comprehensive school Langer field ) is a in the secondary six spacious comprehensive school with three to four spacious Gymnasium upper level in the all-day service . It is located in the Langerfeld district of Wuppertal .

history

On August 22, 1988, the comprehensive school started with five classes and 14 teachers in the rooms of the pavilion of the expiring secondary school (today House 2). Around 1990 she took over the neighboring building of the school for the learning disabled and is still the main building of the school (today house 1). Two years later, the new building of House 3 was put into operation on part of the former schoolyard. In the structure of this building you can still see the corruption scandals of that time in the building sector of the city administration. After a major renovation of House 1 in 2001, the school library was able to move into the center of the school and the ground floor of House 4 was built at the same time. The school library has been run by the mothers of the pupils on a voluntary basis since 2002 because the library staff from the Wuppertal school libraries were transferred to the district libraries .

In 2009, due to the persistently high number of registrations, the city decided to expand the Langerfeld comprehensive school from five to six parallel classes from the 2009/10 school year. In this context, the first floor of House 4 was built. At the end of February 2014, construction began on the new, modern triple gymnasium , which cost 3.6 million euros and can also be used by sports clubs. The triple gym was inaugurated in October 2014. Afterwards, the existing gymnasium in House 1 is to be converted into an auditorium, which will also serve as a meeting point for the Langerfeld district. For this purpose, 2.511 million euros were made available in EU funding.

Since it was founded, it has been a very popular school and has around 220 to 290 registrations every year, with a significant number of students repeatedly being turned away due to lack of space.

The previous headmasters were Heidemarie Schäfers (1988–1998) and Rainer Dahlhaus (1998–2015). The current headmaster is Claus Baermann.
