Marianists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic order of the Society of Mary ( Marianists , abbreviation : SM ) was founded in Bordeaux in 1817. Priests and lay brothers live side by side with equal rights and work as school brothers in schools, pastoral care and various professions. Its founder was the blessed French priest Guillaume-Joseph Chaminade , who (together with Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon ) also established a community of sisters of the same name. The Marianists do not wear a vestment , but the ring of loyalty and a special badge as a visible sign of belonging.

The 1020 members of the community live and work in 30 countries around the world (Argentina, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Great Britain, France, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Kenya, Colombia, Congo, Korea, Cuba, Lithuania, Malawi, Mexico, Austria, Peru, Poland, Zambia, Switzerland, Spain, Togo, Czech Republic, Tunisia and USA).

You work at 95 schools, including 3 universities, with 113,000 pupils, on development programs, in educational institutions and parishes.
