The Society for Research and Therapy of Personality Disorders (GePs) e. V. is an independent scientific specialist society in the legal form of a non-profit association registered in Germany . It sees itself as a forum for doctors , psychologists , psychotherapists working with personality disorders and members of other professional groups, for example nursing, educational or advisory groups. The goals of the company are to organize and promote scientific conferences such as the Hamburg Symposium on Personality Disorders and to provide supervision with a focus on personality disorders.

Areas of activity

The GePs is one of the main areas of work

  • promoting the interdisciplinary research and therapy of personality disorders
  • the exchange of experience and knowledge from clinics, research and practice in the treatment of personality disorders, also through our own specialist journal
  • the improvement of care, including through health policy activities
  • scientific and international cooperation (e.g. initiation of multicenter studies)
  • advanced and advanced training in the use of specific diagnostics and therapy for personality disorders
  • the collaboration of representatives of the various schools of psychotherapy in the field of the specific treatment of personality disorders
  • cooperation with other institutions serving comparable purposes

in their statutes.

The GePs are divided into four specialist committees:

  • Public Relations and Politics (Speaker: Birger Dulz)
  • Research (Speaker: Stephan Doering )
  • Basic, advanced, advanced training / psychotherapy guidelines (Speaker: Rudi Merod)
  • Child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy (spokesperson: Maya Krischer)

The PTT Personality Disorders - Theory and Therapy published by Klett-Cotta is published by the Society for Research and Therapy of Personality Disorders . This appears quarterly.

Prices

The GePs annually awards two sponsorship prizes for outstanding scientific work, the Hamburg Personality Disorders Prize and the Hamburg Fellowship Personality Disorders. The Hamburg Personality Disorders Prize is endowed with prize money of € 15,000 and is donated by the Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg .
