The Gete ( French Gette ) is a river in Flanders , Belgium . It arises in Budingen , a sub-municipality of Zoutleeuws through the confluence of the Kleine Gete and the Grote Gete . The Gete flows in a northerly direction and flows into the Demer in Halen .
The Gete, which became accessible as far as Tienen in 1525 , used to form the border between the Duchy of Liège and the Duchy of Brabant .
The bridge over the Gete in Halen was the subject of a battle near Haelen between German and Belgian troops during World War I , which ended with a defeat for the German soldiers.
