Gheorghe Dogarescu

Gheorghe Dogărescu (born May 15, 1960 in Viziru ; † August 18, 2020 ) was a former Romanian handball player .

He began playing handball in Galați and was a member of the Dinamo Bucharest team from 1979 . With the club he won the Romanian Cup in 1982 and reached the finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1982/83 the following year , which SKA Minsk won. 1986 Dinamo became Romanian champion. In 1990/91, Dogarescu played for Sporting Lisbon .

For the Romanian national team , Dogărescu played 93 internationals in which he scored 116 goals. In 1984 Dogărescu took part in the 1984 Olympic Games . In Los Angeles, the Romanians won the first four games and only lost to the eventual Olympic champion Yugoslavia in the last group game with 17:18. In the game for third place, in which Dogărescu was not used, he won the bronze medal with the Romanian national team after a win against Denmark.
