Ghias Mela

Chaudhary Ghias Ahmed Mela (born September 17, 1961 in Mela, Kot Momin, Sargodha , Punjab , Pakistan , † June 27, 2015 in the USA ) was a Pakistani politician .

Life

After attending Lawrence College in Ghora Gali and the American School in Lahore , Mela began studying business administration at the University of Evansville , which he completed with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). A subsequent post-graduate studies in business administration at the University of Evansville closed it with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from. In 1997 he was elected a member of the National Assembly for the first time as a candidate of the Muslim League PML-Q (Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid-e-Azam ) and was a member of this until 1999. In 2002 he was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly for PML-Q, to which he was a member until 2007. During this legislative term , he served as chairman of the Standing Committee on Housing and Public Works. Most recently, he was re-elected a member of the National Assembly for PML-Q in 2008 and was a member of it until 2013.

In June 2012, Mela was appointed Minister of State for Human Resource Development in his cabinet by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and was a member of that cabinet until March 2013. He was also first vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam before leaving the party in 2015 and instead joining the Pakistan Justice Movement PTI ( Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ) . Due to health problems, he went to the United States for heart surgery in June 2015 . After the operation initially went well, he died there of cardiac arrest on June 27, 2015 .
