IC 1880 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 464 million light years from the Milky Way and about 220,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed as a member of the HCG 23 galaxy group .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1208 , NGC 1214 , NGC 1215 , NGC 1216 .
The object was discovered on January 30, 1900 by Herbert Alonzo Howe .
