NGC 1212 = IC 1883 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 269 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter. 
The galaxies IC 290 , IC 292 , IC 293 , IC 1884 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 18, 1884 by the astronomer Lewis Swift .
