IC 1892 is an interacting bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB / P in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 125 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 1228 , NGC 1229 and NGC 1230 , it forms the chain of galaxies Arp 332 .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This group of galaxies belongs to the class chains of galaxies .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1898 .
The object was discovered on January 22nd, 1900 by Herbert Alonzo Howe .
