IC 1909 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 335 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 120,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy IC 1906 .
The property was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in 1899 .
