IC 294 = IC 295 = IC 296 = IC 1889 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 229 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 140,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1212 , IC 290 , IC 292 , IC 293 , among others .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 11, 1888 .
