IC 1898 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 56 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 60,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1228 , NGC 1229 , NGC 1230 , IC 1892 , among others .
The property was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in 1899 .
