Eridanus cluster of galaxies
The Eridanus galaxy cluster (also Fornax II galaxy cluster ) is a collection of galaxies , which is located at a distance of about 85 million light years on the border of the constellation Eridanus to the constellation Chemical Furnace (Fornax). After the Virgo galaxy cluster and the Fornax galaxy cluster , the Eridanus galaxy cluster is the third closest galaxy cluster to us . Like the other two named, the Eridanus Cluster also belongs to the Virgo supercluster . It contains about 70 brighter galaxies that are spread over an area of about 10 ° in the sky. The cluster forms the Eridanus supergroup with the Fornax cluster, the Dorado group and a few smaller galaxy groups. Recent research indicates that this is a still developing larger galaxy cluster that will contain a total of up to 10 14 solar masses .
The list below shows the 33 brightest members.

- Column 2: Right ascension of epoch 2000.
- Column 3: Declination of epoch 2000.
- Column 4: Apparent brightness (B-band) in magnitudes.
- Column 5: morphological galaxy type .
- Column 6: Apparent diameter in minutes of arc.
- Column 7: diameter in 1000 light years (kLj).
- Column 8: Radial speed (km / s) of the galaxy relative to the cosmic background radiation.
