NGC 1482 is a lenticular galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 81 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter .
It probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with NGC 1481 .
The Type I supernova SN 1937E was observed here.
The object was discovered on December 19, 1799 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
