NGC 1486 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 327 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
