IC 1899 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 276 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1255 and IC 1895 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on December 22, 1897 .
