Ghijasa de Sus , ( German Obergesäß , Hungarian Felsőgezés ) is a village in Transylvania ( Romania ). Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Alțâna ( Alzen ).

location

The village is located in the Harbachtal and is surrounded by five to seven hundred meter high hills. It is about ten kilometers from Alțâna and can be reached via the road that leads from Agnita ( Agnetheln ) to Șeica Mare ( Marktschelken ).

history

Obergesäß was first mentioned in a document in 1364 as Possesiones Martunfolwa et Seez . In the course of the revolution of 1848 , the Obergesäßer serfs and those from the surrounding villages took part in an uprising against the noble landlords .

In the 1992 census, there were 278 Romanians , 8 Roma and 2 Hungarians in Obergesäß .
