Giacomo "Mino" Bozzano (born April 12, 1933 in Sestri Levante ; † November 21, 2008 ibid) was an Italian boxer.
amateur
Bozzano took part in the 1955 European Championships in West Berlin , where he had to get out of the quarter-finals due to injury. In 1956 he started in the heavyweight division at the 16th Olympic Games in Melbourne , where he was able to fight for a bronze medal. In the second round he defeated Ilkka Koski from Finland (bronze medalist at the 1952 Olympics) and in the quarterfinals Ulli Nitzschke from Germany (European champion 1953 and runner-up European champion 1955) before losing to Lew Muchin from the Soviet Union in the semi- finals.
He also succeeded in international matches, including a victory against Tomislav Krizmanić (bronze medalist at the EM 1953) and a points victory against three-time German runner-up Fritz Lahr .

On March 2, 1957, he played his first professional fight. He won 25 fights in a row, 13 of them prematurely. He defeated the French champions Maurice Mols, Emile Vidal and Robert Duquesne, the Spanish champion José González, the Commonwealth champion Joe Bygraves , the Belgian amateur European champion from 1951 Marcel Limage , the Olympian from 1948 Uber Bacilieri , European champion Franco Cavicchi and the US American ex-world champion Joey Maxim .
On November 5, 1959, he finally suffered the first defeat of his professional career when he was knocked out by the German Hans Kalbfell in a final European Championship elimination match. He suffered another knockout defeat in December 1960 against the German Gerhard Zech . He fought his last boxing match on October 13, 1962 against his compatriot Santo Amonti, whom he won through t.
