Profile career

Marcel Limage joined the professional boxer in autumn 1951. Up until the spring of 1953 he fought almost exclusively in his native Belgium and scored 20 victories in a row. On March 18, 1953, he became Belgian light heavyweight champions by defeating Victor d'Haes . On June 19, 1953, he boxed in Hamburg against the experienced German Willi Hoepner and suffered a difficult knockout defeat. Well recovered, he was able to win his next fights again and successfully defend his Belgian championship title on October 25, 1953 in Genappe by knocking out Andre de Keersgieter , but his further attempts to win over good European boxers in the ranking of the best Establishing light heavyweights failed. He lost in those fights & a. against Albert Finch from England, Ivano Fontana from Italy and against the Germans William Besmanoff and Winfried Henne, who were not even among the very first set of German light heavyweights.

Marcel Limage defended his championship title on April 2, 1955 and May 21, 1955 twice successfully against Andre Wyns and Victor Vicky and then switched to the heavyweight division. But even in this weight class he could no longer achieve any great success. He lost to top English boxers Joe Erskine , Dick Richardson and Joe Bygraves and also to the Germans Hans Friedrich (boxer) , Hans Kalbfell , Helmut Ball and Oskar Büttner. An attempt to be Belgian heavyweight champion on November 22, 1956 in Brussels also failed. He lost to Alain Cherville by knockout in the 6th round.

In the spring of 1959, Marcel Limage therefore ended his career as a professional boxer.
