Giacopo Antonio Venier
Giacopo Antonio Venier (* 1422 in Recanati ; † August 3, 1479 ibid) was a Spanish cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
After his birth in Recanati and his doctorate in law , he became papal scribe in Rome and later a cleric in the Apostolic Chamber .
Pope Pius II appointed him Bishop of Syracuse on January 9, 1462 and Bishop of León on September 16, 1464 .
King Henry IV sent him to Rome as an ambassador . Venier was appointed Bishop of Cuenca on October 6, 1469 , a position he held until his death. He received his episcopal ordination on December 22nd, 1465 in the church of Sant'Apollinare in Rome by the Archbishop of Rouen , Cardinal Guillaume d'Estouteville .
Pope Sixtus IV made him cardinal priest of Santi Vito e Modesto in the consistory on May 7, 1473, and on December 3, 1476 he was assigned to San Clemente as the titular church .
Giacopo Antonio Venier died on August 3, 1479 at the age of 57 in Recanati . His bones were transferred to Rome and buried in his titular church, San Clemente .
