The Gibbon River is the right headwaters of the Madison , a headwaters of the Missouris , in Yellowstone National Park in the state of Wyoming in the United States .
It rises in Grebe Lake ⊙ at 2,450 m and flows westward from the lake into Wolf Lake . The Gibbon River then runs in a south-westerly direction, past Ice Lake into Norris Canyon . There he passes the Virginia Cascades . It flows around Gibbon Hill and falls about 25 meters over the Gibbon Falls . After about 55 kilometers of the river, it joins the Firehole River to form the Madison .
fauna
Brown trout , rainbow trout and grayling can be found in the Gibbon River . It is a popular destination for anglers.
