Gideon von Stempel

Emanuel Gideon Gotthard Fromhold Ernst Baron von Stempel (born April 25, 1791 in Goldingen , † November 11, 1859 in Mitau ) was a German-Baltic lawyer and state official .

Life

Gideon came from the Courland noble family of the Lords of Stempel . From 1807 to 1810 Gideon von Stempel attended the Academia Petrina . He then studied law from 1810 to 1811 at the University of Göttingen. In 1810 he became a member of the Curonia Goettingensis II. From 1811 to 1814 he continued his studies at the University of Heidelberg, where he joined the Corps Curonia in 1811 . After completing his studies, he became an actuary of the Courland Knighthood in 1815 . In 1818 he became an assessor at the Hauptmannsgericht Kandau, in 1819 at the Hauptmannsgericht Tuckum and in 1823 at the Oberhauptmannsgericht Mitau. In 1826 he was appointed Doblen's captain in Mitau and in 1832 chief captain in Tuckum. In 1840 he became the youngest councilor. From 1842 to 1843 he was the Courland Land Marshal. In 1843 he became Oberburggraf, 1856 Chancellor and 1859 Landhofmeister of the Courland High Court in Mitau.
