Giedrė Lukšaitė-Mrázková (born December 17, 1944 in Kaunas , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian-Czech harpsichordist , organist and former university teacher .

Life

Giedrė Lukšaitė was born on December 17, 1944 in Kaunas in south-central Lithuania as the second daughter of the economist and banker Kazimieras Lukša (1906-1983). Her mother was the literary scholar and educational historian Meilė Lukšienė (1913–2009).

Lukšaitė grew up with an older sister and a younger brother. From 1962 to 1967 she attended the music academy in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius with Leopoldas Digrys, studying organ and piano . She then moved to the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow , where she deepened her knowledge and skills in the organ from 1967 to 1970. In 1974 she moved to Czechoslovakia and completed her training in Prague at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts with the organist Jiří Rheinberger and the harpsichordist Zuzana Růžičková .

From 1981 Lukšaitė-Mrázková worked as a music teacher at her former training facility, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In 1990 she was appointed associate professor and in 1999 professor for harpsichord. Between 1996 and 2011 she gave numerous masterclasses for harpsichord and fortepiano in Lithuania, Lyon , Paris and Tokyo as part of the European Erasmus cultural promotion program .

As part of her worldwide concert activities , she worked with the organist Jaroslav Tůma and the violinist Gabriela Demeterová as well as other well-known musicians and orchestras, including the Dresden Philharmonic , the Bach Orchestra of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra . From 1983 to 1993 she was a member of the Ars Rediviva chamber orchestra under music director Milan Munclinger .

Lukšaitė-Mrázková took part as a juror at numerous international harpsichord and organ competitions. She has premiered works by contemporary composers such as J. Gemrot and Petr Eben and recorded dozens of pieces for Czech, Lithuanian and Danish record labels, including Supraphon , Czech Radio , Arta Records and Bonifa . family

Lukšaitė-Mrázková is married and has one daughter. She lives in Prague with her family. Her older sister is the cultural historian Ingė Lukšaitė (* 1940). Her younger brother Rimtis Lukša is a scientist.

Awards

On January 24, 2001 Lukšaitė-Mrázková was honored in Lithuania with the order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas .
