Gilberto Parra Medina (* 3. December 1992 in Pueblo Yaqui , Sonora , † 3. June 2018 ) was a Mexican professional boxer in the flyweight .

Career

Gilberto Parra made his professional debut on July 1, 2011 in Ciudad Obregón . In March 2013 he won the title WBA -Fedelatin and was able to defend it successfully in June 2013.

On March 28, 2015, he boxed in Quezon City for the WBO World Championship, but lost to the title holder Donnie Nietes . In November 2017 he won the WBC Silver title , which he lost to Saúl Juárez on March 9, 2018.

death

On June 3, 2018, he was the victim of an assassination attempt in his hometown when several gunmen shot Parra and his passenger in their vehicle. He was named after Alejandro González jr. , David Lopez and Raúl Castañeda are the fourth Mexican boxer to be shot dead in Mexico since December 2016.
