Gilles Saint-Paul
Gilles Saint-Paul (born February 8, 1963 in Saint-Étienne ) is a French economist .
Career, research and teaching
Saint-Paul first studied at the École polytechnique and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées . In 1990 he graduated as a Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , in 1994 he completed his habilitation at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales . From 1997 he taught and researched as a professor at the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona , before he accepted an appointment at the University of Toulouse I in 2000 . At the same time, he was director of the Labor Economics Department at the London Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) until 2001 .
Saint-Paul's work focuses on political economy , labor economics, income distribution and fiscal policy . Saint-Paul has received various awards for his work, including the 2007 Yrjö Jahnsson Prize . He has been a Research Fellow at CEPR since 1991, at the Bonn Institute for the Future of Work since 1999 and at the Munich Center for Economic Studies since 2001 .
