Virginia "Ginny" Anne Gilder (born June 4, 1958 in New York City ) is a former American rower . She won the Olympic silver medal in quadruple sculls in 1984 .

The 1.70 m tall Virginia Gilder graduated from Yale University . In 1980 she was part of the US team for the Olympic Games in Moscow , which was not allowed to compete because of the Olympic boycott . At the Rowing World Championships in 1983 she took third place in the single behind Jutta Behrendt from the GDR and Irina Fetissowa from the Soviet Union.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , the GDR and the Soviet Union did not take part because of their Olympic boycott. In the one, Charlotte Geer competed for the USA. In the double fours, Anne Marden , Lisa Rohde , Joan Lind , Virginia Gilder and taxwoman Kelly Rickon represented the United States. The host country's crew won the second heat and received the silver medal in the final behind the Romanians and just ahead of the Danish boat.

Virginia Gilder later worked as an entrepreneur and investor with her own investment firm. She also built Washington Works, a non-profit company that oversees employment programs for welfare recipients. Together with two other investors, Gilder owns Force 10 Hoops, LLC . This company owns the Seattle Storm basketball team , which plays in the Women's National Basketball Association .
