Gino Cavalieri

Gino Cavalieri (actually Luigi Cavalieri ; born July 25, 1895 in Vicenza , † October 14, 1992 in Treviso ) was an Italian actor .

Life

At the age of 19 Cavalieri made his debut in the ensemble around Luigi Zoncada / Giuseppe Masi / Ruggero Capodaglio , earned a reputation as a Goldoni actor, but soon devoted himself to Venetian dialect theater and became the first youthful hero in Vittorio Bratti's theater group. For the season 1916/17 he signed with Amalia Borisi / Carlo Micheluzzi and then with Gianfranco Giachetti . Further stations of his stage career were appearances with Albano Mezzetti and the artist group "Serenissima", which in 1921 became "Ars Veneta" and was Cavalieri's acting home for ten years. In 1931 he founded his own short-lived company and then played with Tatiana Pavlova . In 1936 he worked again as the first comedian at the Dialect Theater and, after a brief guest appearance in 1939 with Emilio Baldanello , formed a group again with his brother Gianni and Cesco Baseggio . Even after the war he played with the two of them. In 1951 Baseggio Cavalieri's comedic play Un giorno di sole was staged . Cavalieri remained active on the stage well into old age. He also worked for television and occasionally radio.

The cinema found no particular use for the slim, mischievous acting actor, who was mostly content with supporting roles, which he only played very occasionally for the screen from the mid-1950s.
