life and career

He studied at the mathematical-technical faculty of the Tbilisi State University . After receiving his doctorate, he worked at Heidelberg University from 1974 to 1979 . He then taught as a professor of applied mathematics at the State University of Tbilisi.

From 1995 to 1999 Arsenishvili worked in the administration of his home province of Kakheti. After Eduard Shevardnadze was re- elected Georgian President, Arsenishvili was appointed Prime Minister on May 11, 2000. During his tenure there was a break within the Georgian Citizens' Union , which Shevardnadze supported. Many young, reform-minded politicians, such as B. Zurab Schwania and Mikheil Saakashvili , were disappointed at the time by the failure of the president in the fight against corruption. Many of them left government offices and left the country after the president vetoed a law that required disclosure of civil servants' incomes. In mid-2001, the Citizens' Union lost its parliamentary majority and the Arsenishvili government got into trouble. President Shevardnadze then dismissed the remaining ministers and then Arsenishvili. He was succeeded by Avtandil Jorbadze .

Arsenishvili was appointed Georgia's new ambassador to the Czech Republic on December 29, 2001 . He held this office until July 15, 2004. From 2006 to 2007 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgian Railways .
