Giovanni Battista Casali del Drago
Giovanni Battista Casali del Drago (born January 30, 1838 in Rome ; † March 17, 1908 there ) was a Roman Catholic priest and cardinal of the Roman Church.
Life
Casali del Drago came from a noble Roman family. His father was the Marquis Raffaele Casali del Drago, his mother Carlotta Barberini Colonna was a cousin of Cardinal Flavio Chigi (Cardinal, 1810) . On December 22, 1860 he was ordained a priest in Rome . 1895 He received his Cardinal Secretary of State Mariano Rampolla Cardinal del Tindaro the episcopal ordination and he became Latin Patriarch of Constantinople Opel . From Pope Leo XIII. he was elevated to cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria della Vittoria in June 1899 . In the College of Cardinals he held the office of chamberlain of the Holy College of Cardinals in 1901/02 . He took part in the 1903 conclave , from which Pius X emerged as Pope.
