Giovanni Giacomo Millo , also Giangiacomo Millo , Gian Giacomo Millo , Milio or Millus (born June 16, 1695 in Casale Monferrato , † November 16, 1757 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Giangiacomo Millo came from the noble family of the Marquis of Tubine and von Altare and was the second child of Francesco Bartolomeo Millo, Marquis of Altare, and his second wife Ottavia Civalieri. His siblings were Federico Gaetano, Doralice and Francesco. He studied law in Rome at the Accademia de 'Pizzardoni under Prospero Lambertini, later Pope Benedict XIV , who became his friend and patron. In 1716 he found himself a student at the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy .

There is no more detailed information about his ordination . In 1727 he was Vicar General of Prospero Lambertini, who was Archbishop of Ancona at the time , and in 1731 when that Archbishop was of Bologna . After his election as Pope, Benedict XIV brought him to Rome, where he served in various curial offices. From 1743 until his death, Giovanni Giacomo Millo was papal archivist .

In the consistory of November 26, 1753, Benedict XIV elevated him to cardinal priest with the titular church of San Crisogono . From December 16, 1756 until his death he was Prefect of the Congregation for the Tridentine Council . He was also Commendatabbot of the monastery of San Michele della Chiusa .

Giovanni Giacomo Millo died of a sudden death on November 16, 1757. He was buried in his titular church.
