Giovanni Pietro Volpi

Giovanni Pietro Volpi (born May 15, 1585 in Como , † September 12, 1636 in Borgomanero ) was an Italian clergyman and bishop of Novara .

Life

Volpi first met as a canon in Como. On May 23, 1622 he was appointed titular bishop of Salona and his uncle, the bishop of Novara Volpiano Volpi , was appointed auxiliary bishop . He received his episcopal ordination on June 12, 1622, the Archbishop of Bologna Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi ; Co- consecrators were Galeazzo Sanvitale , former Archbishop of Bari-Canosa , and his uncle, Archbishop Volpiano Volpi, Bishop of Novara. There he was from July 26, 1624 coadjutor bishop with the right of succession. On March 10, 1629, with the death of his uncle, he followed him as diocesan bishop.

Giovanni Pietro Volpi died in Borgomanero on September 12, 1636 and was buried in Novara Cathedral.
