Gippel wall
The Gippel wall is around 1600 m above sea level. A. high ridge section on the east ridge of the Gippel , a mountain in the Mürzsteg Alps near St. Aegyd am Neuwalde in the Traisental and Schwarzau in the mountains in the Schwarzatal in Lower Austria.
location
The Gippelmauer is located southeast of St. Aegyd at the end of the Weißenbach valley (Holzhofergraben) and west of Schwarzau Markt at the sources of the Preinbach between the Gippel summit ( 1669 m above sea level ) and the Schwarzauer Gippel ( 1605 m above sea level). ). She pulls latsch passed over almost a kilometer almost the same amount of Schwarzenauer Gippel to Gippeltörl (about 1525 m above sea level. A. ).
To the south is the Ochsenboden saddle , the Perschkogel ( 1613 m above sea level ) and then the Gscheidlhöhe , the transition from Schwarzau to the uppermost Mürz Valley ( Stille Mürz ).
As the municipal boundary of St. Aegyd – Schwarzau, it also forms the district boundary between Lilienfeld and Neunkirchen and thus from the Mostviertel to the industrial quarter . Since the area south of the Gippels and Göllers, the rulership grounds , still belong to St. Aegyd, the Styrian border is still a bit away.
Hydrography
At the Gippelmauer three basic river basins of Austria meet : the north goes over the Unrecht Traisen zur Traisen in the river basin unit Danube below Jochenstein (direct Austrian Danube area), the southwest flank over the Mürz zur Mur , the river basin unit Mur (via Slovenia-Croatia), the South- eastern flank to the Schwarza of the Leitha , river basin district Leitha, Raab and Rabnitz (eastern Alpine foothills, rivers over Hungary). The triple point ( ⊙ ) lies on the western part above the Ochsenboden.
ways
For a long time the Gippel Wall was impassable mountain pine felt. A few years ago, however, a path was cleared so that the crossing of the Preinecksattel - Schwarzauer Gippel - Gippelmauer - Gippeltörl is easy to walk, with ascent to the summit or as a circular hike. The route offers a magnificent view of the entire central Styrian-Lower Austrian Limestone Alps.
